Onyx invites her to join the Crystal Gems, but she declines, giving Onyx a kiss on his forehead, and flies off. She invited Steven and Onyx to come along, as she was along with Onyx, but Onyx and Steven decline in that they were born on Earth, and that they had family there. Once healed, she managed to be strong enough to fly back to Gem World. Contronting her at the pillar of water, Onyx and Steven manage to talk to her out of taking earth’s water, in that they’d find a way, as well as Steven healing her with his healing saliva. Once Lapis is freed by Steven, Onyx steps up to explain he originally sent the mirror down to Rose in order to heal the gem inside, as he and Lapis had met and trusted one another while she was trapped in the mirror. And like before with Greg, Onyx would become his big brother figure. At first, he was a bit startled, and somewhat resentful of the others, but saw a bit of Rose and Greg in Steven, realizing that she lived on in him. Years past, and he traveled back to Earth, surprising the others with his appearance, but he himself was surprised to learn of Steven’s existence. So he carried the mirror with him, and sent it to earth, sending it to the one person he knew who could repair it: Rose Quartz, unaware that she had passed giving birth to Steven. After a year of searching, Onyx located a mirror of sorts, learning that a gem was trapped in it, but the gem was broken due to some unforeseen force. But every outpost was either invaded or destroyed. But as the years went by, and Greg and Rose became married, Onyx felt like he had to leave, fearing he’d become a nuisance to the others, and he felt he needed to find the other Crystal Gems when he learned of stories of the others by Garnet.įinding a useable space portal on earth, he uses it to transport all over the galaxy, searching for remnants of Rose’s rebels to head to earth.

When Greg stays in Beach City with his and Rose’s relationship budding, Onyx learns how to play guitar by Greg. Once the song, Like a Comet, is done, he applauds with tremendous excitement. Immediately cloaking himself, Onyx sneaks in to see the vacant concert, but is more focused on Greg’s music, never hearing anything like it in his life in five millennia. But all that changed when Greg Universe played his first ‘concert’ in Beach City. Although this did little to get him out of his shell.
Hiding under a bed in the temple, the only ones who he didn’t seem afraid to take a peek around was Rose and Pearl. Taken in, he hid in secret but fought along the Crystal Gems for the next five millennia, but still remained shy and frightened of the others. After the rebellion, Onyx was discovered hidden in his birth hole, frightened and shy around the Crystal Gems.
